I plan on having one a month, and the give away will last the entire month. I will normally post the new give away item on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd day of the month, and the results from the last months contest on the last day of the month, or the first of the next month.
I have some fancy rules though! Here is how it goes down. You are automatically entered JUST for commenting on one of my blog posts here! For every comment you post, you get one point. OH! I should name these points! Okay, we are gonna call them, "Awesome Points" cuz that is just, well, awesome. Anyway, for each comment you post with a time stamp dated anytime AFTER the giveaway post is dated, you earn one Awesome Point. This can be a comment on any blog, no matter the contents, even the blog that the giveaway is listed in! So comment away! The winner is the person with the most "Awesome Points" at the end of the month, on the last day, at 11:59: P.M.
One last rule, if you tell someone else about the competition, anyone really, and they post a comment here, you can earn 2 awesome points! All that user has to do is post a comment and type who referred them anywhere in the post! People who were referred by someone cannot refer who referred them. Wow, thats a lot of refers. This "refer system" resets after each giveaway, so feel free to exploit it and work together with your friends.
Oh, and when commenting, make sure it is slightly relevant. Any comments that could be considered "spam" or anything like that will not be considered.
LASTLY, if I do not know you directly (and I am hoping to eventually get support from people I do not know) make sure to post an e-mail address or something that I can use to contact you if you win, or e-mail me privately at:
coconutman1616@yahoo.com
I hope this works out well for everyone! And remember, each month there will be a new prize, and I promise it will be a little bit bigger and better than the last! If lots of people play, I will keep doing this for who knows how long! The prizes could get huge!!!!! Let's all have fun!
This months prize is a pack of Super Mario Galaxy Trading Cards. The cards have never been open, and still remain in their original package! Granted, this is a small prize, but like I mentioned earlier, I am testing this contest stuff out, and dont wanna give a freaking console away to the one kid that comments... Play, and next month, the prize will be bigger and better!
Good luck to all that enter! Please have fun!

Hey, one last thing! Normally, the comments only give you Awesome Points if they are for a Blog Post from the month the contest is in. For example, this contest is for November, so only November posts would count. BUT! Since this is the first contest, any and all comments will be counted! GO GO GO!! ( since I am commenting, do I get an awesome point?!)
ReplyDeleteWow... This is pretty awesome! But.. logging in on blogspot is a pain in the... most commonly used area of an otaku.
ReplyDeleteSo if a winner is somewhere say in , I don't know, Japan. Does said person get his prize sent to him? If that's the case sticking with small gifts is probably going to be toward your advantage.
ReplyDeleteGosh, now i'm going to go back and comment on all the blogs I haven't commented on previously. I love trading cards.... There better be a Luma one in there!!
ReplyDeleteIts funny aaabumz, but I posted something on my myspace that essentially said, "I hope you don't win!" (^_^) Also, if any of you have any suggestions for next month, let me know. I can tell this system has a few flaws, and we could end up having the same winners over and over again, so if you have any idea on how to make it better, suggest away!
ReplyDeleteYeah, as much as I'd like some trading cards, I dont want to win this, then immediatly try to win your next prize. I'd just feel kinda greedy..
ReplyDeleteBy the way, is it easy tallying up the Awesome Points?
Actually, it is not that bad. I get an e-mail notice whenever someone comments, and the subject of the e-mail has the users name in it, so I can just scroll through my yahoo mail inbox and count em up! Not a bad gig. And see,the scenario you listed above is what I am worried about. I would hate for this thing Im doing to be counter productive and turn people off from commenting and visiting. Any ideas to make it better, let me know!
ReplyDeleteSweet, so if I read correctly, I get points for all my past comments, right?
ReplyDeleteNo sadly... I should make that clear I guess. The posts start counting after I post the give away announcement each month, so only posts dated after November 7th count...
ReplyDeleteDidn't you say that since this is the first one, all posts count? Not that I really mind though. But one idea would to be not letting people win two months in a row. This also might get people to think "Do I really want this prize, or should I hold back a bit to see if next month is even better".
ReplyDeleteI like your idea there inazuma, maybe that's what I'll do... As for previous posts counting, the way I intended it to be worded is comments on blogs before November would be counted as long as they were posted after the contest started, but I can see how that could have been confusing, so change of plans... Again. I will count all current comments on the blog, any where, lol. Sorry about being so misleading guys!
ReplyDeleteOkay, and to hopefully clear up any confusion, current Awesome Point standings as of this very minute are:
ReplyDeleteSeismic: 3
Ike: 1
Inazuma: 8
Tomorrow3mma: 9
I hope that helps, and if you disagree with the count, lemme know and I will re-count. Keep in mind this is not the final numbers either. Post stop counting after 11:59 P.M. on November 30th.
Man.. I'm going to be home that last week, without my computer. Looks like this one will likely go to Emma. Ah well. There's allways next month, right?
ReplyDeletePlus, a semi-random question: Is there a specific reason for this giveaway? I'm guess more comments on your blog helps you in some way.
Watch Ike come from behind and take it! (^_^)
ReplyDeleteMy main reason for doing this is for the past year or so I have been applying to a lot of game review sites, and they always ask for a sample of my work. I usually give them a review I have written, but one place wanted to know if I have ever written for an online publication designed for various readers before. And I had not... I am hoping that by getting more hits on the blog (another reason I came to blogger, website hits are easier to monitor than on myspace) and by getting more comments, I can show potential journalism employers that I have a little experience with an audience that gives feed back.
On a more minor note, I hope it will be fun giving stuff away! (^_^)
I like how there's essentially 4 of us competing. I see why you'd want us to refer people to your blog. Problem is, most of my good friends consist of those 4 people...
ReplyDeleteMakes me wish I had a blog to give stuff away on...
Do it! Blogs are fun if for the only reason that it is nice to get opinions off your chest you know? Imagine if I called you guys up every time I finished an anime or video game! You would get way sick of me! More so than you do already! (^_^)
ReplyDeleteI sorta figured the first one or two contests would be between a small number of people, which is why I started the prize off small. I think, or rather, hope, that as the prizes grow in value, things will change. And if not, well, it was a good shot right?! Like I said, in the end, the blog is for getting ideas off my chest, publicity isn't huge to me by any means.
Sure would be nice to show off a decently popular blog to a potential writing employer though!
I WAS winning but I think inazuma may take this one.... I had to scroll through like a million comments to get to the comment box...
ReplyDeleteI told my friend Mariko about your blog a while back... but... I don't think that she's visited it...
Hey, well I really appreciate it! So far, I think you are the first to try the whole referral thing, which is the main point of this so... thanks!
ReplyDeleteI loves promoting you darlin! I do what I can when I can!
